CarbFix was presented in two workshops in the Nordic Pavillion at the COP22, UN Climate negotiations in Marrakech on November 7-18, 2016. The workshops took place at the Nordic pavilion where New Nordic Climate Solutions were highlighted through a series of events and activities. The Nordic countries joined forces under the auspices of the Nordic Council of Ministers to present solutions for a greener future. Dr. Edda Aradottir, project manager of CarbFix, presented the project at the NordForsk Arctic Day on Nov 10th as well as at the "Troll turned to Stone" event hosted by the Icelandic Ministry for the Environment and Natural Resources. Ms. Holmfridur Sigurdardottir, Head of Environemtal Affairs at Reykjavik Energy and former project manager of CarbFix, also gave a presentation on the project in the Troll turned to Stone workshop.
Edda and Holmfridur focused on the groundbreaking results obtained in CarbFix team, which has developed a safe, simple and cost-effective method of capturing CO2 from emissions and turning it into rock within months. Permanent CO2 storage must be urgently applied to live up to the Paris Agreement.
