Ölkelduháls - Innstidalur

An easy trail suitable for most people.

Starting at the information post at Ölkelduháls, the trail lies above Kýrgil, Fremstidalur and Miðdalur, offering a magnificent view of Southern Iceland, Vestmann Islands and Þingvellir. The final part winds above Bitra and Hengladalsá, where it cascades through a narrow pass from Innstidalur. The trail ends in a lava field in grassy Innstidalur. Two trails originate at the information post, one to Sleggjubeinsdalur (trail 2) and the other to Vörðu-Skeggi (trail 11). A short detour along the Vörðu-Skeggi trail offers a nice warm creek for a bath, or just to soak your tired feet.
