Ölfusvatn - Ölkelduháls

Suitable for most people but rather long and calls for endurance.

Starting at the information post at the turn to Ölfusvatn, the trail begins in deep grass and bush, before hitting a "dirt road" along Ölfusvatnsgljúfur. The trail splits in the field above, one leading west and the other we follow through a narrow ravine, circling Hrómundartindur, entering a deep, narrow canyon exiting over a ridge to Kattartjörn. The trail follows the base of Tjarnahnúkur and joins trail 3 at an information post, one leg to Dalasel hiking hut and the other we follow past Ölkelduháls to an information post.
