Rjúpnabrekkur (Hveragerði) - Klambragil

An easy trail through a magnificent hot spring area, suitable for most people.

Starting at the information post in Reykjadalur above Hveragerði, the trail winds up the Rjúpnabrekkur rolling hills. The view over Hveragerði and towards the south coast opens up as we ascent. Above the hills, the trail crosses the creek and heads up the slopes overlooking a geothermal area with bubbling-hot clay pots and large, hot spring pools. Be careful here as the water and the clay are extremely hot. Once Klambragil is reached, the "hot creek" is ideal for bathing.

By adding an extra 3.8 km to this trail, the Ölkelduháls circle (trail 3) can be completed, clockwise or counter clockwise.
