Marardalur - Vörðu-Skeggi

Distance = 8,3 km (From Dyradalur)

A challenging trail that calls for endurance, very steep at first.

Starting point is at the information post in narrow ravine between Marardalur and Engidalur (on trail 1/trail 4). Although less traveled than others in Hengill, this trail is well worth the effort as the view expands with every step to the west, Reykjavík and Marardalur, with Engidalur straight down below. The upwards climb ends at a plateu below Vörðu-Skeggi and the trail splits at an information post, one leading down to Sleggjubeinsskarð (trail 10) and the one we follow to Vörðu-Skeggi (trail 13 B) - laga link, ekki til 13, bara b.
