Geothermal

Iceland is a country rich in geothermal resources. Situated on the mid-Atlantic ridge, there is constant, volcanic activity beneath the surface in various parts of the Iceland. As a result, there are huge amounts of hot water reservoirs in the ground. We collect hot water from the ground in various parts of Reykjavík, which is a
low-temperature area. The water is generally 70-80°C. Hengill, located southeast of Reykjavík, is a
high-temperature field. We operate two geothermal plants in the Hengill area:
Nesjavellir Geothermal Plant
